How to paint walls with texture

Painting the walls of your room is one of the most economical, quick and easy way to change the look of your room. These walls, however, require special attention when you paint. The nooks and crannies of a wall with texture are small challenge for the painter, but there are ways to achieve them. This article will give you tips on how to paint the walls with textures, as well as some alternative ideas to do so.

Instructions :

  1. Choose the type of paint. A semi-gloss paint will give you better coverage, and that is not as easily absorbed by the texture as a matte painting. The semi-gloss finishes are also easier to clean.
  2. Prepare surfaces. Seal a textured wall is as important as sealing a wall without it. Masking any surface you want to protect and cover the floor area with a piece of fabric also. Keep a ladder handy to reach inaccessible places.
  3. Choose the right brush. You’ll have to start with a normal brush. Use this brush to trim the edges of textures; moving the brush back and forth while declines, to make sure you all corners and small cracks.
  4. Then use the large brush wall in a pattern with an “X” or diagonal movement forward and backward on the surface, to achieve a good uniform coverage. With diagonal movements you’ll be sure to reach cracks and also will create an irregular pattern better hide the traces. Similarly you can use a roller to do this, but the rollers tend to slip on the wall textures, ignoring many of the nooks and providing uneven coverage.
  5. Wait for the paint to dry and then steps back and looks for areas that have remained light or missed completely. Rectoceles or apply a second coat of paint. Let the paint dry, remove the masking tape carefully and enjoy the new color of your wall!
