How to fix a leaky roof from inside the house

The Roof leaks are hard to find. There are several factors that can cause them and the point of origin may be difficult to detect. Leaks must be repaired from the outside to the problem well. However, it is impractical to get on the roof, as in the winter months, you can temporarily repair it from the inside, and always when determining where the leak is from the bottom of the roof.

Instructions

  1. Locate the leak examining the underside of the roof from your attic or camera.
  2. Light the torch and pass it around the bottom of the roof to find the holes and parts that have been wet or obscured by moisture.
  3. Mark with chalk areas that appear to be leaks, so they will be easier to find when a permanent repair is made.
  4. Let wetted parts dry and then put a patch on the inside of the roof with a spatula. Use enough to completely cover the area of the leak patch.
  5. Uses a caulking gun in order to display sealer in any hole in the roof. Use a spatula or your finger to extender putty around the hole.
  6. Insert a nail into the hole where the water dripping from the ceiling. The nail will make a way for water.
  7. Place a bucket under the nail to catch the water as it melts away.
  8. Patches the hole from the inside as this part is dry enough to put caulk or patch.

Tips and Warnings

  • The roof leaks can occur when the flashing around the vent pipe or chimney separated from the ceiling and form a gap.
  • If the roof is wet, perhaps the patching material will not adhere properly.
  • Repairing leaks from the inside of a roof is only an array temporary. Make the final repair as soon as the weather allows.
  • Walk carefully on the rafters or uses a sheet of plywood to walk on it, this way you will avoid accidentally poke a hole in the roof panel.
